Our Mission & Vision
Our Mission
Building families today. Pointing hearts toward their eternal home in Jesus Christ.
By word and deed, The Way Home exists to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ while meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of widows and orphaned children in Uganda.
We believe every child deserves to grow up in a loving family, and every family deserves to know the life-changing love of Jesus. By walking alongside widowed grandmothers raising their orphaned grandchildren, we provide practical care, safe housing, sustainable resources, and Biblical teaching that strengthen families and restore hope.
But our greatest mission reaches beyond the needs of this life. Through every home built, every seed planted, and every Bible study shared, we seek to lead others to the truth of God's Word and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Because we're not simply helping families find a better home on earth. We're pointing them toward the Way Home forever.
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families.”
Psalm 68:5–6
Our Vision
Families strengthened. Churches equipped. Communities transformed. The Gospel reaching generations.
Our vision is to see widows, orphans, and entire communities in Uganda transformed by the life-changing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We envision a future where vulnerable children grow up in loving families, widowed grandmothers are equipped to provide for their grandchildren, and local churches are led by pastors grounded in the truth of God's Word.
Through sustainable agriculture, vocational training, Biblical education, and discipleship, we seek to equip families and communities not only to overcome poverty and hardship, but to grow in faith and share the hope of Jesus with others.
Our greatest vision is not simply to see families thrive on earth, but to see generations come to know Jesus Christ and find their eternal home with Him.
Because when the Gospel takes root in a family, a church, or a community, its impact can reach far beyond one generation.
How We Live Out Our Mission
-
When a grandmother steps in to raise her orphaned grandchildren, she often does so with very limited resources, facing overwhelming challenges while working to keep her family together.
The Way Home comes alongside these Granny-Families to meet their immediate physical needs through safe housing, sanitation facilities, medical support, mentoring, and sustainable agricultural training.
But meeting physical needs is only the beginning. Through Bible studies, prayer, and discipleship, we build meaningful relationships that introduce families to the life-changing hope of Jesus Christ. As grandmothers discover the truth of God's Word, they are equipped not only to care for their grandchildren but also to nurture a foundation of faith for generations to come.
We don't only want to strengthen families for today. We want to introduce them to the Heavenly Father who offers a home forever.
-
We believe true and lasting transformation begins with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Way Home partners with local pastors and church leaders to strengthen their understanding of Scripture, equip them to recognize and address false teachings, and prepare them to faithfully proclaim the truth of God's Word within their communities.
Through our Pastor's Enrichment Program, Biblical leadership development, and initiatives like Farming God's Way, we equip churches to share the Gospel in both word and deed, demonstrating God's heart for widows, orphans, and vulnerable families.
Our greatest opportunity is multiplication. As pastors return to their churches grounded in Biblical truth, they carry the Gospel into their villages, reaching families, raising up disciples, and sharing the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ for generations to come.
-
Meeting immediate needs matters. But true transformation goes beyond providing temporary relief. It means equipping families to thrive physically while growing in their understanding of God's Word.
Through Farming God's Way, family gardens, mentoring, and sustainable agricultural training, we teach practical skills rooted in Biblical principles that help families provide for themselves and recognize God's provision in their lives.
Marcia describes it as “the Gospel in Farming,” this approach uses agriculture as an opportunity to share Biblical truth, build relationships, and point families toward Jesus Christ.
We're not only planting seeds to provide food for tomorrow. We're planting seeds of faith that can bear fruit for eternity.
-
No grandmother should have to carry the responsibility of raising another generation alone.
The Way Home comes alongside widowed grandmothers through fellowship, practical training, mentoring, and Bible studies that offer encouragement, strengthen relationships, and share the hope of Jesus Christ.
Through these gatherings, grandmothers discover more than a community of support. They encounter the truth of God's Word and the love of a Heavenly Father who sees them, knows their struggles, and promises never to forsake them.
Because even when life feels overwhelming, there is hope in Jesus Christ. They are seen. They are loved. And through Him, they are never alone.
The Future We're Working Toward
We envision a Uganda where vulnerable children grow up in loving families, communities are strengthened by Biblical truth, and generations come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
We envision:
Children who belong — growing up surrounded by loving families, rooted in their communities, and learning that they are deeply loved by their Heavenly Father.
Grandmothers who are equipped — with safe homes, sustainable resources, and the encouragement of God's Word, finding both practical support for today and eternal hope through Jesus Christ.
Pastors who proclaim the truth — firmly grounded in Scripture, equipped to faithfully teach the true Gospel, raise up disciples, and lead their churches in Biblical truth.
Churches that shine the light of Christ — becoming centers of Gospel outreach, discipleship, and compassionate care for widows, orphans, and vulnerable families.
Communities transformed by the Gospel — where Biblical principles guide everyday life, families become more self-sufficient, and the love of Jesus is shared from one generation to the next.
Not just a Uganda where families have stronger homes, fuller tables, and brighter futures, but one where hearts are transformed by the Gospel and lives are surrendered to Jesus Christ.
Because the greatest legacy we can help build isn't a house that lasts for generations. It's a faith in Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
Building Families Today. Homes Forever.
Faith That Takes Action
Our mission is rooted in a powerful Biblical truth: the Gospel transforms hearts, and transformed hearts are moved to action.
“Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”
James 2:15–16
We believe sharing the love of Jesus means more than speaking His name. It means demonstrating His compassion through the way we serve others, while boldly proclaiming the hope of salvation found in Him alone.
God calls His people to respond.
To pray for hearts to be opened to the Gospel.
To serve those in need with the compassion of Christ.
To give so that physical needs are met and the Good News is shared.
To advocate for widows, orphans, and families who need someone to stand beside them.
To proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ so that others may come to know Him as their Savior.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.”
Proverbs 31:8
Every home built, every family strengthened, every pastor equipped, and every seed planted is an opportunity to demonstrate God's love and share His truth.
Because meeting a physical need can change someone's circumstances, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to change their eternity.
